Do I meet the requirements for major admission?
Enter your GPA, your grade in the required prerequisite, and your completed credits, alongside each of that major's own minimums. All three conditions must hold together, since competitive major admission almost always checks more than one requirement at once.
How we calculated this
All three conditions, GPA, prerequisite grade, and credits, must hold together under AND logic. Using the example values above (major GPA 3.2 against a minimum 3.0, a B prerequisite grade against a minimum C, and 30 credits against a minimum 24), every condition holds, so the overall result is met.
If any single condition is missing a value, the overall result reports as conditional rather than a false "met," since a real admission decision needs every piece of information confirmed, not assumed.
Limitations
This checks exactly the three conditions built into this tool; it cannot represent a major with a different or additional requirement, such as an application essay, interview, or a GPA calculated only from specific courses. For a fully custom set of conditions, use Honors Threshold Scenario's general condition builder instead.
Common mistakes
A common error is using your overall GPA instead of the specific major GPA the requirement actually checks, which can pass or fail the condition incorrectly. Another is entering the prerequisite grade on the wrong scale, such as a percentage instead of a letter-grade quality point, which silently changes the comparison result.
Frequently asked
- What if my major has more than these three requirements?
- Use Honors Threshold Scenario's general condition builder to add any number of custom conditions instead.
- Does "met" guarantee admission?
- No; this checks only the mathematical conditions you entered, not any holistic or competitive review your program may also apply.
- What if my prerequisite grade condition alone is what fails?
- Check Prerequisite Grade Threshold on its own for a focused view of just that one condition.
- Can I check a minor's admission requirements the same way?
- Yes; enter that minor's own GPA, prerequisite, and credit minimums in place of the major's.
- Why does every condition have to hold at once?
- Competitive major admission is almost always an AND rule across every stated requirement, not a best-two-of-three; entering your true numbers against the real minimums avoids a false sense of eligibility from meeting only part of the requirement.
