About Semester Clarity

Who this is built for

Semester Clarity is built first for degree-seeking undergraduates who already have most of the numbers a decision needs: a current score, a remaining weight, a credit count, a target. High-school students, community-college students, transfer students, and adult learners use the same underlying tools, though school-specific policy support beyond what a student types in is not promised to any of them. This is a planning aid used alone, on a phone or a laptop, often minutes before something is due.

What it actually does

Each engine on this site answers one real academic decision: what a course grade needs from here, what a term or cumulative GPA looks like under a stated assumption, what a dropped score or a retake changes, or how many credits and terms remain at a given pace. Results show the numbers used to get there, not just a final figure, so a student can see where an assumption was made and change it. An optional, browser-local workspace called My Semester lets a saved course carry forward into the next decision instead of re-entering the same grades and credits every time.

Why the math has to be shown, not just given

A grading scheme, a rounding rule, and a school's specific policy on a zero, a drop, or a retake all vary in ways that are easy to get quietly wrong. Semester Clarity treats that variation as something to surface, not paper over: every engine states its assumptions in plain language, and anything that depends on a specific school's rule is collected from the student rather than guessed by the site.

Why the numbers stay on your device

Grades, scores, and course records are personal, and a meaningful share of the people using an academic planning tool are minors. Semester Clarity does not ask for an account, a school name, or a real name to calculate anything, and My Semester's saved data lives in your browser's local storage, not on a server this site controls. What this site will not do

Semester Clarity does not solve homework, answer subject-matter questions, write or rewrite essays, generate citations, produce study flashcards, or create any content meant to be submitted as a student's own academic work. It is not an official grade record, a degree audit, a financial-aid or scholarship determination, or a ruling on academic standing. It does not replace a syllabus, a registrar, an instructor, or an academic adviser.
