What Semester Clarity never asks for

This site does not require an account, a real name, a school name, a student ID, a precise location, or any government identifier to calculate a result or use My Semester. A meaningful number of people using an academic planning tool are minors, so this is a hard boundary, not a launch-stage convenience: no field on this site collects that information, and none is planned.

How a calculation actually runs

When you use a Semester Clarity engine, the numbers you type are read by JavaScript running in your own browser, calculated there, and displayed there. They are not transmitted to a Semester Clarity server as part of running the calculation. This is an architectural choice, not a policy promise layered on top of a different design: the site is built as static pages with client-side logic specifically so that a grade, a score, or a course name never has a reason to leave your device during normal use.

My Semester: what it stores, and where

If you choose to save a course, My Semester stores that course, its credits, its grade structure, and any scenarios you create in your browser's local storage or IndexedDB, on your device only. Nothing is saved until you take an explicit action to save it. Clearing your browser data, switching browsers, or switching devices will not carry a saved course with it; the first time you save something, the site tells you this directly.

Exporting, importing, and deleting your data

My Semester includes controls to export your saved data as a readable file, import a previously exported file (with a preview before anything changes), delete a single course or scenario, or reset all locally saved academic data. A reset requires an explicit confirmation and explains that it cannot be undone without an export made beforehand. If your browser blocks local storage, engines still calculate normally; only saving to My Semester is affected.

Analytics

Semester Clarity uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which tools are useful, using Google's Consent Mode v2. In the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics runs cookieless by default, meaning no analytics cookie is set and there is nothing to ask consent for. Elsewhere, a standard analytics cookie is used unless your browser signals Global Privacy Control, in which case analytics storage is denied automatically. No advertising or ad-personalization signal is ever sent. Regardless of region, an analytics event never includes a grade, a score, a course name, a policy note, or any other academic value you type into an engine; only anonymous interaction data such as which engine was viewed is recorded.

Standard hosting logs and contact

Like most websites, Semester Clarity's hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and request timing) for security and reliability, independent of the analytics described above.
