Am I meeting satisfactory academic progress pace requirements?
Enter your completed and attempted credits and the minimum pace rate your school requires. Add any additional condition, such as a maximum-timeframe rule, that your school's SAP policy also checks alongside pace.
How we calculated this
Pace rate is completed credits divided by attempted credits, then checked against your minimum required pace alongside any additional conditions you add, all combined under AND logic. Using the example values above (45 completed of 60 attempted), pace is 0.75, which meets a 0.67 minimum pace rule.
Increasing completed credits while attempted credits stay the same always raises pace; it can never lower it, since pace is a simple ratio of the two.
Limitations
This is not financial-aid advice; real satisfactory academic progress policies often also check GPA and a maximum timeframe to complete your program, which you can add here as additional conditions but which this tool does not know automatically. Confirm your school's exact SAP policy directly with financial aid.
Common mistakes
A common error is using completed and attempted credits from only the current term instead of your full academic history, which most SAP pace rules actually track cumulatively. Another is forgetting a maximum-timeframe condition your school's policy states, which this tool only checks if you explicitly add it as an additional condition.
Frequently asked
- What counts as "attempted" credits?
- Generally every credit you registered for, including withdrawals and failed courses, not only credits you passed; check your school's exact definition.
- Does this check my GPA requirement too?
- Not by default; add it as an additional condition, or check Academic Standing Scenario for a fuller multi-path standing rule.
- What if attempted credits is zero?
- The calculation is rejected, since pace cannot be computed without any attempted credits.
- Is this cumulative or per-term?
- Enter whichever your school's policy actually uses; most SAP pace rules are cumulative across your entire enrollment.
- What happens if I add a maximum-timeframe condition?
- It is checked alongside pace under the same AND logic, so both must hold for the overall result to report as met.
- What if I am below the required pace?
- This tool only reports the mathematical result; contact your financial aid office directly about any appeal or academic plan process your school offers.
