How we calculated this
This solves the same way as a target-grade calculation, except the target is your passing threshold instead of an aspirational grade. Using the example values above, 76% over 75% of the course contributes 57 points toward a 60% passing threshold; the remaining 3 points needed, divided by the 25% remaining weight, means you need an average of 12% on everything left to pass.
Limitations
The passing threshold is entirely what you enter; this site has no institutional database of pass/fail rules and never infers one. If your school defines "passing" using a letter grade rather than a percentage, convert it first using Current Weighted Course Grade and your own grade scale.
Common mistakes
A common error is entering a department- or university-wide minimum GPA as the passing threshold for a single course, when the two are unrelated numbers. The passing threshold here is specifically the percentage that this one course's syllabus defines as a pass, which is often lower than a GPA-based standing requirement.
